Look stupid
Dropped in the middle of a business unit. How would you proceed? Look at the flow? No. Look at the orders first. What is the deadline? What do we ship at the end of the day? Are we on course? Should I make a decision? Everybody seems competent. That depends on whether they were able to ship by the end of the day. Best course would be to just watch. Look at the flow. Look at bottlenecks. Look at deadline. "Are we moving towards the goal?" is the only question that matters. Do they have the team? Seems like it. I don't have to do any hiring. Are they profitable? Yes. We are past the cash burning phase. Who is the customer? Customer is very picky in this industry. Service rendered is significantly less than the final cost of the product. Lot is at stake for the customer. Follow checks. Reduce complexity. There are things to learn. Watch and ask.
