Intelligence
Intelligence is cheap now.
How much of the world runs on intelligence? How much of the life around me?
Furniture. Electricity. Clothing. World of hardware. It required an intellect to assemble this. Mostly it's hardware. Robotics isn't solved yet. Though AI will accelerate design and development. There wont be a significant drop in prices until that happens.
But I dont see a world where software prices aren't crashing. Any kind of knowledge work. Expertise is compressed knowledge. Human brains are no match.
A counter argument is knowledge was always there. It took ingenuity to engineer something out of it. Have the models displayed any kind of ingenuity?
Well they solved open maths problems.
Why not tackle everyday design instead? Ai videos and images seem impressive. Still there is less impact to be seen offline.
They are designed to get to their goals faster. A task with verifiable reward. But to come up with a goal needs human intervention.
For coming up with goals it has to interact with real world and know its limitations. But would it dream of flying?
And why would it? It might be a last gasp attempt to distinguish us from it.
